During the Midsummer reading session, we will pause for a moment to listen to stories in the landscapes of Akka-Koli – texts and moods that have been created inspired by the light of midsummer, the dangers of Koli, the forests and lakes. The peaceful reading session will transport the listener to the summer world of Koli and its polyphonic soul landscape.

Koli has inspired writers and artists for centuries, and during Midsummer, the landscape has its own special atmosphere: a bright night, mist rising from the lake and a quiet celebration of nature. During the session, we will hear thoughtful excerpts from texts related to Midsummer, summer and Koli, which open windows into the lives of people from different eras, their relationship with nature and the experience of Finnish midsummer.

The instructor will introduce the atmosphere, provide background stories and allow the words to carry into a moment where the mind calms down and the unhurried atmosphere of Midsummer Day takes over.

It is worth booking your own seat pad and weather-appropriate, waterproof clothing if necessary. It is recommended to avoid using umbrellas so that visibility and hearing are maintained for all participants.
