Private tranquility at the lakeside cottage

The wilderness cabin and a separate sauna are located on the shore of clear-water Lake Vaikkojärvi, and the place offers an opportunity to enjoy the peace of nature. 

The yard sauna has a wood-heated stove, and water for the sauna also comes from the lake with a pump. The cottage has its own beach with a boat available. 

Facilities and equipment

The round log cottage, built in 2001, has up to 8 sleeping places: 2 beds in an alcove separated by a curtain, 2 beds in a space separated by a screen, and a sofa bed in the living room. Additionally, there is another sofa bed in the sauna's fireplace room. 

The kitchen is connected to the living room. The kitchen has a wood stove, drainage, and utility water comes from the lake with a pump. The cottage has a glazed terrace. 

Water and electricity 

The cottage is heated by a soapstone fireplace located in the center of the cottage.

The cottage has solar electricity. Sockets operate on 12V power. There is a 150W inverter for charging use. 

Utility water is taken from the lake, and drinking water can either be brought along or fetched from a nearby spring. The lake water was also tested and found drinkable in 2020. 

The cottage is located 23 km from Juuka and a 105 km drive from Joensuu. 

Kaskela is available for rent from May 20th to October 31st, 2026
