Enter a world where stories and nature were one.

How did ancient man live as part of nature? Who were the ‘High Lords of Koli, the Murderous Men of Mustarinna’ of folk poetry?’ and why was Koli’s older name Mustarinda?

On this story-filled trip, you will dive into the mystical mental landscapes of ancient Finland and search for answers to these mythical questions.

In the forests of ancient Finland, humans were an inseparable part of the surrounding world.
Nature was not just a landscape, but a condition of life, a source of mysteries and full of meanings.

The inhabitants of the forest – both animals and spirits – were present in everyday life in a way that can seem almost forgotten today.

On a two-hour peaceful trip, you will travel through the ancient landscapes of Koli, guided by stories and myths. Along the way, you will learn about ancient Finnish mythology, learn spells and stop to reflect on the ancient Finnish worldview where it was born: in nature.

Your guide will be Kaarne Karjalainen from Retkipaikan – a local history expert who brings the past to life.
