From Koli Village to the National Landscape
From Koli Village to the National Landscape
From Koli Village to the National Landscape or from the National Landscape to Koli Village
From Koli Village to the National Landscape - a guided walk from Koli village to Finland's most famous national landscape or vice versa.
Hikers are picked up from an agreed location in Koli village or we meet at Ukko Nature Centre.
Stories of spirits inhabiting the fells kept permanent settlement away from the slopes of Koli, known as Mustarintainen, for a long time. The route takes you from the center of Koli's cultural village along the same paths walked centuries ago by pioneers and travelers. The route goes to Mattila, from there through Ollila and Turula up the side of Ipatti.
Along the way, the settlement history of Koli is told, and old farmsteads are explored, along with stories about Koli National Park, its nature, and history. After the well-known Uhrihalkeama, the diverse services of Yläpiha await, as well as Koli Ukko Nature Centre with its exhibitions and the breathtaking views of the national landscape.
At Koli Ukko Nature Centre, you can explore the nature centre's exhibitions. The nature centre also provides tips for other destinations in the national park and advice for the return route back down to the village. After the guided walk, you can continue the day on your own, for example, on the Peaks Tour via Akka-Koli and Paha-Koli to the summit of Ukko-Koli, or to the Mäkrä or Kolinuuro routes. You can make the return journey, for example, along Sataman polku, which allows you to explore Koli National Park even more comprehensively.
